MINUTES OF COMMITTEE MEETING

1. WELCOME

Robert welcomed all present. Thanks Eleanor for making your home available for this meeting.


2. CORRESPONDENCE

Water watch appointment needs to be rescheduled please Malcolm.

Barrie dropped in Greening Australia’s, Managing in conservation areas.

Chris received application for Boroondara Community Grant scheme and dropped it into Robert Brierley’s.


3. BUSINESS OF THE MEETING

3.1 Project scoping documentation.

ACTION: Robert to make hard copies of the Project diagrams of the sections of the creek to Bob for distribution to members of the committee

3.2 Rubbish removal

Janice to invoice FOBC for the removal of rubbish being done by Council

Janice is also providing details of possibility and cost of the use of a bobcat to help in rubbish removal

3.3 National Tree Day being advertised by Planet Ark. The FOBC site included as a location for people to participate in planting. Hole diggers needed for the day and it was suggested that $200 be spent from the Melbourne Water Project to purchase some more.

It is expected that there will be 50 students from Wattle Park for planting on Friday July 23 and that there will be representation from Council present for the planting of 300 plants.

There will be 1600 plants available for planting for Sunday July 25.

Plants are coming from VINC.

ACTION: Robert to check with Barrie if additional hole diggers might be available from Greening Australia.

ACTION: Bob to check with John Daley’s Landcare contact to see if medium trees (12 to 15 meters) are available through them

ACTION: Bob to also request that a notice be displayed at Nick Flicks about National Tree Planting day

    1. Newly planted mature eucalypts – some trees not looking healthy

ACTION: Bob to approach Janice to have them replaced.

    1. Newsletter to be ready the weekend before the 18th of July. There was some discussion to get the Bird Observers involved about advice about planting particular trees to attract birds.

ACTION: Robert to take to Bob Stenholt for printing

    1. Bench seat – Karen Hucker from the Rotary Club of Boroondara has been in touch to further discuss the donation of a bench seat for the area.

ACTION: Robert to follow up if it would be possible to have the presentation coincide with National Tree Planting activity on July 25.


6. TREASURER’S REPORT

Bob presented the report.

The high cost of insurance is a concern –$432.50

Bob requested approval to pay the following:

$432.50 for insurance

$20.00 for VINC membership

$40.00 for Greening Australia membership

Approved by the group

ACTION: Bob to find out if the Boroondara Council Grant money is able to be used to help pay for some of the costs or cover the insurance cost.
