MINUTES OF COMMITTEE MEETING Date: 14th June, 2005 Location: Home of Jim Breen – Cornell St Present: Robert Brierley, Eleanor Stephenson, Jim Breen, Bob Strickland, Rosemary Buchanan Apology: , Barrie Gallacher, John Cott, Chris Walta 1. OPENING Robert chaired the meeting. 2. BUSINESS OF THE MEETING 2.1 NATIONAL TREE PLANTING DAY - 31ST JULY Back Creek is the only site registered this year for postcodes 3124 & 3127. Site Reference is 8486 Wattle Park Primary School to be involved on the preceding Friday Robert to arrange supplies (per McDonalds) and supervision Glen Iris Scout group may also be participating Site will be in 4 selected areas at the Quinton Road end. Robert will provide details Weeds believed to have been sprayed in selected areas downstream from ford 1,500 seedlings (grasses & shrubs) to be ordered by Barrie and/or John. $2,000 to be allocated for planting which meets Grant commitments Bob to contact Council for 12 Hamilton tree planters, supervisors, and other help Barrie to contact Greening Australia if more tools needed Bob to obtain Certificates from Planet Ark, and check for other Publicity material. 2.2 ROTARY INVOLVEMENT Robert expects Cathy Macmillan and other Rotary people to be at the working bee on Sunday 19th to take photos of the seat for they provided at the Cornell St. end of the track. 2.3 NOTICE BOARD Yet to be funded 2.4 TREASURERS REPORT None tabled. However the Bank balance is $9,458 and Membership Subs & Donations to date total $155 Renewal of the VINC annual subscription was approved Most Grant money not required to be spent by August 2006, so Robert not concerned about level of funds on hand. 2.5 RUBBISH REMOVAL A Bobcat was needed to clear branches and rubbish near creek bed upstream from ford. Council assistance required? 2.6 WORKING BEE - 19TH JUNE Robert unavailable but will leave equipment near Quinton road track by 9 a.m. 2.7 JUNE NEWSLETTER Supplies of the newsletter had been printed at Bob Stensholt's office and were distributed at the meeting for delivery as follows: Bob: East side of Though Road; Green Street. Also displayed at Micks Flicks Eleanor: West side of Though Road, plus Courts and Quinton Rd Rosemary: Webster & Dower Streets Robert: Nicholsdale, Mabel, Lockhart, & Moorhead Streets Chris (via Robert): Cornell St (50) John (via Robert): Hollsmoor St (50) The spare panel was noted, and it was felt such a panel could in future be available for a notice of community interest such as, for example, concerns regarding changes in the Through Road bus route, or the proposed redevelopment of the Hartwell Private Hospital site.
